Fashion Suicide.

You know - I'm broke and can't buy clothes like I use to...not that I went bat-shit crazy with shopping in the first place (I prefer to buy books and art). Anyway, With my threadbare, too large clothing, I still manage to make myself presentable and fashionable most of the time.

What I don't understand - and what makes me want to beat some sense of style into people - is when I see folks with ill-fitting clothes.

Why do many women insist on wearing clothing that is too tight? Do they think that having a huge overlapping muffin top is sexy? That showing off all of their fat rolls is hot? Tight pant legs that taper to the ankle is not good...yet, the sausage cassing look is everywhere!

And don't get me started on men - especially the young ones. PULL YOUR GODDAMN PANTS UP, PLEASE! Do you seriously believe that you are all ex-cons hiding weapons in your pants? NOT!

(Most of you wouldn't last a night in jail).

There is nothing cool or good about wearing your pants on your thighs, with a belt around them. You have to create a special walk and run to keep your pants up...when they should be worn the right way in the first damn place. Guys - I do not want to see your underwear. When I do, you'll be stripping for me, not slogging around like retards that can't dress themselves.

Please - for you fashion-tards...pick up an Elle or a GQ and learn how to dress!

Mommy taught you how to tie your shoes...now, remember all of the other lessons she taught you when you first learned how to dress yourselves. Good grief!

Your cats should be an early-warning device for quakes, aren't they supposed to be sympathetic to approaching (or whatever the correct term is) quakes?

Get some bottled water, a first aid kit and maybe some protein bars or something, keep it near to your front door. When the big one hits, grab them as you go. Maybe invest in a box for your personal papers you want to keep that are stashed around your apartment.

I got all my stuff ready in my little closet. Of course, I live on the second floor. If some major thing happened and the third floor collapsed onto me, well, poop goes my plans then lol.

Good call, CM!

My cats usually freak out 30 seconds to 1 minute of an event, so not much help there - lol!

I'd want to save them first, but I know that at least two of them will go under the bed and not come out in time for me to get them in the carriers.

I'd grab my purse, jewelry box, my portfolio of art, and two prints from the living room wall that could bring me some money...

I should really get an emergency kit of food and water ready for me and the kitties though!

WTF? Does the new moon affect people like the full moon?

22:45 Oct 28 2011
Times Read: 1,153

This week has been one loopy-assed ride, I tell ya'! I've had my share of freaks/kooks/tards to last me a year. The highlights:

* Some people are dressing up for Halloween before the said night...a week of kooky costumes. My fave so far is the guy in the Gumby suit. The wierd thing about him is...he wears that damn Gumby suit a lot.

On Tuesday morning, a girl came into the cafeteria wearing a very skimpy gold sequin bikini with platform 'George Clinton' boots. She was hot - in a super-model Naomi Campbell kind of way. Nevermind that it was still about 46 - 47 degrees outside. Dudes were swarming in to check her out. While I didn't think it was appropriate for her to be wearing her get-up on campus, it didn't faze me much...this is California, after all. She would be a usual sight across the bay in San Francisco...Anyway, someone thought that she was definetely in the wrong, because the cops were called. I'm assuming that the call went out over the radio, as about 7 - 8 cops converged on the chick all at once. They were there for the peep show too. I think the girl walked out with a citation or something, as she wasn't arrested, and she had her coat on...

* A student was wearing a really cool top, and I complimented her on it. She then went on to say that she designed and made it herself. I mentioned that I went to school for fashion design. She then went on to lecture me on how I should get back into it, and that WE should collaborate at some point, make lots of money, etc. She was full of bluster, but I could tell that she was passionate about fashion...and what I should be doing with my life (WTF)? Listening to her, you'd swear that she had a design studio set up, seamstresses at the ready, etc. When it came time for her to pay for her food, she pulled out her student ID and told me that she was in the Care program (basically, she gets $50 a month for food, for being a welfare mom going to school). Yeah...tell me how to run my life with your expertise, lady.

* Speaking of expertise...during a slow period yesterday, a guy comes in and proceeds to tell me and Mai that the number one thing that a black man should do - before school, a job, and the like - is to hussle. Mai and I just looked at him with a WTF look on our faces. He then went on about 'getting his life in order', ie getting his driver's license back, and getting his $20,000 in unemployment money...I had enough of his bullshit, so I asked him how he expected to get $20,000 - which no one gets - when he was so against working for a living? He just gave me a dumb look, and wandered off. He asked a female student nearby if she wanted a hussler with ready cash, or a boring square dude with a job, and she said "The square dude. I don't want no dumb broke ni---h like you." Mai and I cracked up, leaving the dumb ass to wander off...begging people for change. So much for the hussling life.

* A student of Middle Eastern and Hispanic descent struck up a convo with Mai and I...he went on about how Chinese women make good wives, as they are faithful and take care of their men...(stereotype, anyone)? Mai just rolled her eyes and commented that not many Chinese women serve men, and I told him that if anything, they - men - should consider how great ALL women were, especially when giving birth to their 'spawn'. He just gave me a wierd look, kinda' laughed and walked off. Asshole.

* Remember the old gay guy who gave me the lovely floor-length dress from Nigeria? One day - weeks ago, when it was really hot - he had no money and wanted a coke. I told him to get one, and I'd cover for him. No big deal. Fast forward to this week...to thank me, he had a fistful of flowers for me. The wierd thing about the flowers was that it looked like he just pulled up someone's garden. There were weeds, grass, and roots everywhere...Thanks.

I haven't been here as much as I'd like - lately, I've been able to only log in for a few minutes at a time.

At least I finished my retail rotation at Walgreens; yesterday was my last day. The pharmacist in charge wrote nice stuff about me on her observation checklist - cool!

I'm still trying to get a hospital rotation...

If I finish my report on my retail rotation today, I'll try to hang out here a bit this evening...if I'm not nodding off.

Even though I slept until 10:45 this morning, I'm still soooo damn tired! Need more coffee...time to get to work on that report now.

Rant.

Examples of why I am liking animals more, and liking humans less:

* What would possess a person to shoot a hawk through the beak with a nail gun?

* Why shoot a lone sea lion, who has to be euthanized later on after a long attempt to save her life? (Okay - there were some good humans involved here)

* Nailing a cat to a phone pole? WTF? (This one was also euthanized)

* When will law enforcement learn to keep at least a bare minimum of tranquilizer guns when the area they work and live in is surrounded by large predatory animals (ie mountain lions, bears, etc)...instead of always killing them?

(With the exception of the poor cat, the rest of my rants are of a local nature, and current).

Work.

19:46 Oct 21 2011
Times Read: 1,253

* Work's been the usual: Big Momma becoming more useless as the days go by, for example. She totally fucked up the espresso machine yesterday. When it was pointed out to her that she messed up the machine - again - did Big Momma attempt to fix the situation? No. She apologized, then went back to her station...Boss #2 was not happy to clean out the machine and clean up the mess, as she had a lot of other shit to do. (Neither Mai nor myself could do it, as it was very busy with customers...and Big Momma is slow as molasses).

* There is one student who is pretty cool. I got him hooked on scones - he loves them - lol! We chatted a bit one day, and he told me that he was stressed out about having to meet his parole officer later in the day...I was taken aback, as I didn't picture this guy as an ex-con. Anyway, I told him so, as he speaks very well, and he doesn't have that hard-assed look about him, ie the swagger and other body language. And he doesn't eat like an ex-con - you know - low to the table, scooping his food into his mouth. He laughed and said that he tried his best not to come across as such. Of course, with me being all nosy and shit, I asked him where he did his time, and how long. He told me that he spent EIGHTEEN YEARS in prison - half of his life, basically. And that he was in several prisons too. He named some, and one stuck in my mind: Cocoran. People think that San Quintin and Folsom are the scary ones...hell. Cocoran is where they send the really violent/crazy ones...!

Now I'm thinking - 'Oh great. Making friends with a psycho...'

I asked him about his crimes. He said that he wasn't a rapist or a murderer...how comforting. He admitted to going to upscale areas here, to rob rich white people...never non-whites, or poor white people. And that he got a rush when committing the crimes. Um...okay. I'm to assume that by not robbing non-white or poor people, that makes him a slightly better criminal? Ooookaaay...Robbery is robbery. (For the record, he looks bi-racial, like half black and half white).

Anyway...I asked him if he had any reason to be nervous about meeting his p.o., and he said no. So I suggested that he just take a deep breath and do what he had to do. And I gave him a day-old scones.

WTF?

00:46 Oct 14 2011

I had to make an ATM deposit after work yesterday, so I took the bus to my bank. It's one of many buses that run every hour. I stopped by a grocery store in the same mini-mall for the cold medicine and my gummy bears, with enough time to make it to the bus stop. I was in a short line - the one that says '15 Items or Less' thinking that I'd be out in no time...NOT!

Why do old ldies refuse to use debit cards? Why do they take forever to fill out checks? (My mom is like this - lol). While watching Granny, I saw my bus drive by...damn!

I unintentionally let out an audible sigh. The young Asian guy in front of me said that I could go ahead of him, but I declined, as the bus was already driving off. I thanked him though. Then - this huge white dude behind me asked me where was I going. I had to cock my head back to look at him. I'm 5'8', so this guy must've been around 6'7"...anyway, I told him the general area, and he offered me a ride as far as the hospital, as he was taking a few grocery items to his dad, who lived near the hospital.

Now of course, all sorts of things went through my mind...like, are you serious, dude? He wasn't bad-looking, but neither were a few other serial killers. Using his dad as a ruse...the good son tending to his father? REALLY? I imagined his big muscle-bound ass snapping my neck like a twig...no thank you.

I politely declined the ride, thanking him for the offer. I was tempted to hide behind a corner to watch him leave...see if he'd be driving a white van with blacked out windows...

Anyway, I hung out at Starbucks with a caramel frappucino while waiting for the next bus.

So far:

* Everyone's been sick off and on for the past two weeks. I got hit with a cold, and am currently at home today. I needed the time off - not only to take it easy, take meds, but to do a few easy chores (mainly laundry), as I'll be at work tomorrow, and at the pharmacy this weekend...then back to work on Monday.

The day Big Momma called in sick was actually cool. She wasn't messing up everyone's breaks and lunches with her disappearances. One day this week though, the shop steward of her union caught her nodding off in a back room. And yesterday, after she took her breaks and lunch, she dicided to take another break...she went into our break area, had some chocolate chip cookies with chocolate milk, then went to sleep, with her head thrown back, snoring. Duh?

* A school employee who comes into the cafeteria a lot told me that I always appeared 'calm and serene'...??? I laughed and said thank you...no use being all wound up negatively, right? She agreed. If only she knew the bat shit craziness that is my mind...

* Speaking of bat shit crazy, the Green Jobs/CAA guys are back. For the most part, the group is okay. But - there is always one that will just grate my nerves. This guy is never ready when he gets up to the register - always changing his mind, getting stuff, leaving stuff...and not very polite. I had it with him on Tuesday, as he was being a major pain in the ass. I was calm, but there must have been something in my face that told him to chill out...the other guys were telling him to too. I politely asked him to put his stuff aside so I could ring up other customers (he was holding up the growing line). He got all huffy, but went along with my request. When he was finally done, another student from his group said "Sorry, but that guy is a damn retard." When I finished ringing him up, I said - in my usual deadpan way - "Thank you very much for being sane." He and his buddies couldn't stop laughing.

Last night's dream.

00:03 Oct 14 2011
Times Read: 1,354

At home today...totally worn out and with a cold...I almost passed out around midday yesterday while at work. DayQuil works, but I got a stronger medication for the nighttime - Tylenol Multi is suppose to be the strongest OTC on the market now, so I took some last night...

which is probably why I had a serious dream right out of the goddamn Rabbit Hole...

Usually, I don't remember dreams or much of them upon waking up. I remembered most of this one though. I was in a small cramped apartment with a young blonde Brad Pitt and another famous guy whom I don't remember; they both took off their clothes and told me to, as we were suppose to make a 'sandwich'...I said hell no, but somehow, they convinced me to. (I notice that in my dreams, I'm dumber than I am in real life)...Anyway, when I removed my clothes, I noticed that I had a really hot body, so I figured - why not have some fun?

We sat on a bed, naked, making...sandwiches. There was a knock at the front door, and Brad Pitt answered it, still naked. There was a group of people trying to convince us to let Jesus be our personal savior - a family actually. A couple, with their two kids - one boy and a girl. They were speaking to us in English and Spanish. They didn't seem too upset about us naked people; they tried to sell us shit too, like Amway or something. We gave them some sandwiches and told them we weren't interested in buying anything...

I plan on going to work tomorrow, and do another weekend at Walgreens. Will I take some more drugs? Of course I will...I need to get better, of course.

But I learned a lot - I surprised myself on how much I retained. The folks there were friendly and helpful too. I love it!

The only wierd thing is that I have this white lab coat that I have to wear, which makes me stand out a bit...I'd rather be wearing something similar to what the technicians wear - dark blue. It's kinda' wierd having people walk up to me asking me medical questions, assuming that I'm a pharmacist...lol! When I took my lunch break, I walked around trying to find a quiet place to eat outside...all I found was a bench...right in front of the hospital next door...where two different groups of people thought that I was a doctor...good grief! * Yesterday morning - while I was making coffee - there was an Asian woman getting coffee who kept staring at me. Very unnerving, to say the least. I went to my station when a line formed at Big Momma's station, to ring up customers. I got the staring woman in my line, who was now smiling. I'm thinking "What the fuck, bitch?" but remained professional. I was taken aback and felt bad for my earlier thoughts about her when she said "I don't mean to stare, but you are strikingly beautiful." I laughed and said thank you after getting over my initial shock. She then said "You get compliments a lot, don't you?" I told her no - I got most of them when I was younger. (Although people sometimes stare...which is rude). Anyway - her compliment made my day! LOL!

* Por's lil' terrier jumped out of the car two days ago...I fell so bad for her and her daughter, as they love that lil' dog. Fliers were put up...I hope that lil' Bentley gets home!

* Got to work this morning to see Big Momma at the espresso machine. She was nodding off while slowly cleaning it. I looked over at Mai, and she just rolled her eyes and shook her head.

Apparently, Big Momma fucked up the machine again, as there was water and powdered crap all over the place. I didn't even bother to go over and ask...said hi to her later on, when she was away from the machine, so she couldn't ask me to help her.

* Well - tomorrow is the big day...beginning my externship at Walgreens. I'm nervous already. I hope that I get a good night's sleep, especially since I kept waking up last night with charlie horses in my right leg...ouch!

(Water - I must drink even more water, I guess).

The week so far...

* Well - work was crazy on Monday. Mai was out on a furlough day, Boss #2 was sick, and Por called in as well. So, for the morning, it was just me and Big Momma...oh joy.

I kinda' blew up after the first two hours of work with Boss #1; he said that he understood my feelings and was aware of the situation, ie Big Momma doing the bare minimum of work, leaving me to do almost everything. He spoke to her briefly, and later on, she volunteered to 'take her turn to float'...I told her that it wasn't a matter of floating in the morning - or for that matter, the day. What she needed to do was everything all at once, like I do. I don't expect her to keep up with me, but she needs to multi-task...not just do one SLOW thing at a time. I told her that besides cashiering, when there are no customers, she actually needs to leave her station, check the coffee, fill in stock, and wipe down the counters...whatever she could do in between customers. Gee - that was a novel idea for her. At some point when she actually left her station, she took about 15 minutes to add half & half and soy milk to the canisters. Then she hid out in the walk-in fridge. I have had it with this woman. I know that physically she can't do much, but she could at least try to do something without having to be asked all of the time. Good grief...

* Yesterday, I had the day off, as I had to move my extra stuff from my mom's garage to a storage unit. I was also able to finally see the condo she bought. It is beautiful! I just have to figure out how to get there via public transportation, as it's not as easy to get to as the house was...Anyway, after I got my stuff moved, she, her old buddy Rudy and I ate at their fave place (again - lol) - Sizzlers. Listening to old people repeat themselves about stuff is funny and annoying at the same time. I told my mom that I'd strangle her if she mentioned again on how fresh the salad bar was...

* I was so tired and sore when I got home, that I could hardly get out of bed to pee this morning. And my stomach ailment flared up really bad for about 3- 4 hours. So - I contacted both bosses this morning, calling in sick. After finally getting some sleep without being in pain, I got up, and cleaned up the apartmet - lol! Did the laundry too. Now, I need to go over my books to refresh my brain for this weekend's retail rotation at Walgreens.

Yipee.

This big momma chick REALLY needs to go. My god, why are they keeping her around?! I'm sorry but...I read what you're going through with her and even I have flat out had it with her. You have more than enough to do on a daily basis....wtf is wrong with this chick? She really needs to get her act together already. This is horse shit! Ya know...a little more physical activity for her aint gonna kill her either lol. Geeeeez, what a waste. I'm sorry if im being harsh but GOD DAMN that woman is all sorts of lazy and unmotivated. UGH!!!

LOL @ the salad bar comment. I haven't been to a sizzler in forever but I do remember them having awesome malibu chicken....uhhhh yeeeeeah...*drools like homer simpson*

Oh yeah, that's the stuff right there lol. :P

I'm sorry that your tummy is giving you hell again and that you were so sore and tired. :(

I am glad to hear that you got some rest and were able to do some chores too. I wish you the best of luck on your rotation at Walgreens. Go get em' tiger! Like I said before...you're kicking ass and taking names! :P

Watched two games today, as both of my teams were playing. The Niners won, which surprised me, while the Raiders lost - boo!
